    Heartworm - Monthly Treatment?

Yes, here in FL monthly heartworm preventative is vital. It's so much better to just give them the monthly pill than have to deal with the horrible and risky (not to mention expensive!) treatment if they get heartworms. Nola's on Iverhart Max, 6-12lbs. She's been on prevention since about...

    Our Beach Trip

Thanks:) She just really really likes to learn, I call her my Doxie border collie lol, she's ridiculously smart. She's trained with clicker training and I use the methods taught by KikopupClicker Dog Training - YouTube and Tab289 Dog training explained - YouTube on YouTube.

    Our Beach Trip

Last week I took Nola to the beach, and she had such a blast! She was off leash, and recalled perfectly:p And on a random note, I'm shocked at how easy it is to keep weight off her. Before I got her I read all the horror stories about fat Doxies and how hard it is to keep them lean, but she's...

    Help, he's a Shredding Machine!!!

Chewing/shredding was never an issue with Nola, even as a puppy. But it was with my lab! Have you tried crating him when you're not around to watch him/at night, bitter apple spray (doesn't work for all dogs) on furniture, rotating his toys so he has new ones, enticing chew toys such as bully...

    Why doxie? in USA

Haha I say both, depends on who I'm talking to. Fellow dachshund owners it's usually Doxie. Same way I say y'All instead of you all or you guys

    Allergies/Sensitive Skin

Nola has severe food allergies to corn and soy, and environmental allergies to grass in the spring. Have you tried changing the food? You have to have them only on the new food (no treats, scraps, supplements ect) for 6-8 weeks

Hi and welcome! You've got your hands full;) I trained Nola to walk on leash nicely by stopping and not moving till she sat. Only took a few times till she got it

    Long Haired Puppy Coat Question

From what I've heard, that's a pretty high quality food. He's also way young for food allergies, they general manifest at 6 months MINIMUM. Maybe an environmental allergy?

    Recommending Treats?

Freeze dried is a hit here, and so are bits of sweet potato. I use small pieces of chicken for high value, and our FAVORITE commercial treats are Zuke's mini naturals
