Peanut
Hi I’m new to this forum. I have a 4 year old dachshund named peanut, we were in our backyard today and she caught a mouse, it didn’t bite her but she got him pretty good, I was told to just keep en eye on her for any vomitting or or her stubbing around. In kind of freaked out and I’m not sure what to do. Anyone have any experience with their dog catching a mouse? Should I keep an eye on her or take her to the emergency vet?
Thank you so much

Love, Felisha and peanut

My pup has killed a few rats and nothing of it. They are little hunters. I’m sure she’s fine. You could just call your regular vet and see what he says but if your dog is acting normal and eating normal, everything‘s probably fine Just keep an eye on her.

I've had several dachsies that have caught mice, rats, possums. I've never had one that had any bad results. I agree to just keep an eye on her.

I had a Jack Russel that killed mice, she never had a problem. As long as vaccinations are up to date you shouldn't have a problem.

We had a Yorkie, less than 10 pounds. He was a fierce little hunter. As long as your dog is well and vaccinated. I would not worry.
