Patchwork dapple

I saw this doxie on facebook and thought I would share with you. There are very few patchwork dapples around. It's like the piebald gene influences the dapple pattern. Cool. Too bad we can't see from the photo if all four feet and tail tip are white as well.

It doesn't really look like a piebald dapple. He looks like a double dapple to me. Because the merle gene is so random it can affect dogs in really weird ways. I'd be really curious to find out the parentage of this gorgeous pup!

Upon closer inspection, I'm almost positive he's a double dapple. His blue eye has defects.

That actually seems quite common in Doubles. My boy boo and a facebook friend with a red double named Gator both have a split face... opposite sides so they'd look sooo cute together if they ever met lol
