I'm new here. I have been considering buying our first Dachshund. Is there really an obvious different in the nature of Standard Smooth Haired and Standard Longhaired? I hear that Longhairs are more sweet and laid-back and shorthairs more feisty.

I can't say about long hair as I have never owned one. Short hair are feisty, but that is what makes them who they are.
