Flea Tick treatment

Hi!

My vet has prescribed a flea/tick pill, which our trainer said is widely used, but killed two of her dogs. Our dog's brother had a bad reaction to the same medication, so I'm wondering what others use. I hate to think Big Pharma and vets push medications to make $, but it seems so. I'd love to hear what people use/do! Thanks!

Hi, we use Bravecto anti-flea/tick pill for our two dachsies. They last for three months so I give them one each 1/4, 1/7 and 1/10. The winter months are low risk (impo) so I don't bother with 1st. Jan. I'd recommend looking on the web for them as you can get them for probably less than 50% of what a vet will charge. I get them from Atlantic Pet Products at a really good price and free postage - and they're in Australia!

I've never seen any adverse reaction with any of our dogs over the years - our current two are nos.4 & 5!

Seresto Flea and Tick collars, they do work well for fleas but I don't know about ticks since I live where there isn't a problem with them.
