3 yr. old won't let puppy alone

We just got a new puppy named Sophie. Our 3 yr. old Ellie will not leave Sophie alone. She is non stop sniffing and licking her, generally just hovering over her all the time. Will it stop? Is this normal? It's as if Ellie has claimed Sophie as her baby.

Awww it sounds as though your three year old has really taken to the puppy. I think its rather sweet! I am sure the novelty will probably wear off a bit but its really good she has taken to her and is being protective rather than jealous. It would be good to hear more about them are they both dachshunds?

Yes, both are long haired dachshunds and both from the same parents.
