Yep. Dogs (and kids) always get sick or hurt when you don't have extra money or when it's sunday or other holiday and it's almost impossible to get them to a vet. It's like Murphy's law. I hope this mystery cough passes soon!! :)

The vet would be the best thing for him, I think... But if it is food related you could try cooking him rice and chicken for a few days (feed him only this). That's good for tummy-ache. And also make sure he drinks enough. It's the cough that sounds worrying, though.

Good luck with the test! :) Sounds like fun. I was going to try that with Manu also, but he has issues with strangers, so I have to deal with that first. ;) Maybe you can train separation with a friend? Someone having the dog and giving her treats while you go further away.

Welcome to the forum! And weldone rescuing. :) I have a standard longhaired dachsie and german shepherd/rottweiler mix. They get along very well also even though there's quite a size difference. :)

I check their nails weekly, but usually there's something to trim every other week.

Yep, we have the same thing with labs in Finland too. The 2 types are very different from each other! It seems that the same thing is happening to dachsies in Finland as well, some breeders are already selling puppies only for hunters. It'll be interesting to see pics of your teckel. :)...

She's such a happy dog running in the water! :) I haven't had any problems with keeping my dachsies lean. Proper food and excercise is the trick, I guess. :)

Haha! I have no idea. I'm from Finland and I thought that doxie was short for dachshund. Like a nickname or something, lol. :D
