    Doggie Stairs or Ramp

Ramps are better for doxies. I've heard a lot of people go the super cheap route with some plywood and a piece of carpet, but they have ones you can buy, too. Also, I just noticed that you live in Spring. My sis is down there, too :)

How do you know when it is "time.."

I also teared up while reading this. I've been following your posts but hadn't replied yet because I never knew quite what to say, and I didn't want to post something pointless. I'm very sorry for what you're going through. I can't really imagine it, because I've only had pets put down when I...

Post your sweetie with their fave toy!

Haha!!! Yeah, he is a total ham. He'll be doing his own thing and I will very slowly and silently get my phone, and as soon as I pull up the camera app he'll stop whatever he's doing. He just KNOWS!!!

Post your sweetie with their fave toy!

Here's Dr. Watson and his favorite ball in the world, which unfortunately got left at the MIL's house so it will be a while before we have it back. It's a Hartz DuraPlay ball...best squeaky ball I've ever bought, but terribly hard to find. I also don't have any pictures of him actually...

    Doxies in the pool!

If I were to do that, Watson wouldn't even put his paws in, I bet. He just isn't a fan of water. I wish he was though, I would have loved to watch him swim more than he did when we got him in the pool and he immediately swam to the steps...

    Doxies in the pool!

Okay I know some of you follow Watson on facebook, so you might have seen these already :D We went to DH's parent's house on Sunday for some quality family time...but mostly because they have a pool! I love swimming but haven't gone in like 3 years, so I was super excited. Plus, we've never...

Tricks - Leave It and Lay Down

It took Watson FOR. EVER. to get lay down. I would just keep moving the treat from his nose to the ground until finally he got it. But it still took a while for it to actually "click" in his head.

Mouse has taken to cuddling with my head!

What, you don't enjoy a dachshund snoring right in your ear? Lol :D

Mouse has taken to cuddling with my head!

Hahaha Watson likes to do that too!

    Cookie Time!

Do you use ASL signals or ones you have just made up? Watson knows a few ASL signals, "water", "eat", and "outside" (although that one is hit-or-miss.) I started teaching them because I know my sister's dog will dance at her bowl if she's hungry or thirsty, so you don't always know which she...

    Just a share:)[Picture Heavy]

Yeah, sounds like baby Watson...he lost almost all of his dark hair (except his ears and a bit on the tail) but has lovely dapple markings, both lighter and darker than his main color. Here's two of his baby pictures, just for comparison :D Can't wait to hear more about her (and of...

    Just a share:)[Picture Heavy]

How beautiful! Good to hear that they're catching on quickly...I definitely know about the "clever but stubborn" haha. And OMG the new baby is so precious! She looks nearly exactly like Watson at the age! Have you picked a name yet? :)

The Face and 7 mo. old pics

Hahah, the innocent face. Man has Watson mastered that one! As for watery eyes, is it possibly allergies? Watson had an issue with that once (I say once because it was last fall and he's only 1.5 years old so it might happen again this year, we'll see.) His got super watery and I had to wipe...

    Doggie Police!!!

Watson will get upset and bark if DH and I hug, or if he cuddle without him.

    New mommy here!

We brought Watson home at 5 weeks...very very young. He slept with us in our bed the first night, the one and only time we've allowed that. After that we moved him to his kennel. Two things that can help - a warm water bottle (not hot, obviously) wrapped in a tshirt or something for her to...

    Puppy won't poop outside

Hey guys, jumping in on your thread here :) It's good you finally got her to poop outside! And yes, remember to be consistent. As for asking...every dog is different, of course. Watson wasn't *fully* trained until he was about a year old...he got it for a while around 9 months-ish and then...

    Help training!

This is normal at her age. Doxies are hard to potty train, and even once you think she's got it she might still backslide. Watson wasn't fully, completely trained until he was about a year old, and even then he wouldn't always let me know that he needed to go out, I just knew it was probably...
