Thanks everyone. Here's today's picture.....

After losing our 17 year old girl Samantha back in June we decided to get another Dachshund. She is a red smooth standard even though by the pictures you would not know it, she looks more like a black and tan but she will be dark red when she is an adult. Say hello to Brandy.

Our Dachsund lived to be 17 years and 3 weeks. You've got some time but don't let a day go by without holding her tight.

When our Dachshund used to get sick we would feed her a little bit of cooked white rice per her vet.

You have any pictures of the parents? I have not been a fan of the bridles, but would like to see how they look. I like red smooth. It is unreal how you can not find a red smooth standard or mini. I keep telling myself it is because the time is not right and it is not meant to be. I guess...

Dachshunds are very very very (did I mention very)protective of their owners. It is very normal for them to react in this way to stangers in my opinion. This is 100% right. It is the breed and how they are. Ours was 17 when she left us and she was always there. Always! I would not of had it anyother way.

Beautiful dog. Can I ask....Are you only going to use the "potty pads" with her or are you working on taking her outside too? I know you are going to be in a college dorm and the outside part may be difficult while on campus, that is why I ask. Hopefully she gets to go outside to take care of...

I lost my girl, Samantha, 2 months ago to the day at almost this time. My wife took her in. I just could not go. She was my girl. My whole life actually. She was 17 years and 3 weeks old. Born 5/13/96, died 6/3/13. She was a tough tough dog. She was deaf for probably 3-1/2 years. Almost blind...

That was the first thing I noticed that I did not like.....The other breeds mixed breeds. I would never buy a Dachshund with out A)Seeing the parents, B)seeing where and how they are raised, and C)without test info. Thanks for the reply.
