    New addition to the family

Well....... His name he was born with was Colby. My brother has a Colby so I did not want to have another Colby in the family. I really liked the name Ruby but my wife says it is more of a girls name. We thought about Ruger, and Barron among others. I like the name Jack so we named him Jack Ruby...

    Dachshund Seizures? Someone help me...

Our last Dachshund, Samantha, had seizures starting at 3 years old. She was put on Phenobarbital. 2 small pills twice a day. She rarely had them while on the medication but it did happen maybe once a year or less. You will hear stories about Phenobarbital but I can tell you first hand that it...

    Chews

We let ours chew nylabones and on occasion an antler bone but for not to long and not to often on the antler bone as they are very hard and I had heard they can splinter. We keep a close eye on her with any kind of bone. Nylabones keep her teeth very very clean because she loves to chew them...

    New pups

No one was being negative, we are Dachshund owners and know how aggressive they can be and it is not fun when they are aggressive and a stranger comes along. We were just looking out for you and the pups. With that being said, to answer your original question. Be patient. Dachshunds can be very...

    New pups

Our last Dachshund we got at 6 weeks old. I was young and dumb back then. Even though she lived a long life, 17 years and 3 weeks, she was an aggressive dog and not good around other people she did not know. Do yourself and more so the puppies a favor and make them, the owners, wait at a minimum...

    Possible Dachshund newbie

You better be ready to own the most stubborn, smartest, best dogs to ever own. :) They love to sit with you and they love to be under their covers. Are they house broke? If not they can be a bit of a challenge to say the least. Try not to let them jump up on things.... bad for their...
