    Puppy while at work

This is not answering your question but have you considered adopting an adult? We have gone to a show breeder and asked to adopt an adult when they were retiring from the show ring. They would have to learn the rules and routine of your place but they already should know how to walk nicely on a...

    Agressive 4 month old Doxie

There are treat balls you can buy. Put a few of his kibble in the ball and have him roll the ball around to get them out. A few at a time and keep going until he's had his breakfast or supper. It will help to burn off some energy. Be sure to have him neutered when the vet advises. Can you...

Is it worth breeding our dog?

There's really nothing special about being a dapple in regard to color and pattern. Actually dapples are tricky to manage when breeding because they can be paired with the wrong female and have serious health problems with the puppies. Hearing impairment to complete deafness, vision impairment...

Taking my doxie to the same vet his companion passed away at?

I don't have that specific experience but go and keep it upbeat. Keep a happy and relaxed tone and smile. Go a few times and have the staff give treats and pats. He'll have that experience to remember.

Novice owner, piebald dapple? double dapple?

OK. Without the photos, it's hard to say. The best guess is that she could be a double dapple, and maybe not. That's not much help, sorry. I hope she'll be fine and not have any health issues. So far so good.

Novice owner, piebald dapple? double dapple?

OK. That doesn't rule out a double dapple though but good to know. If I saw the parents and they were both dapples, certainly a double dapple puppy could happen. Sometimes red can hide dappling and if the breeder isn't aware of that, they may think it's a solid colored dog when it isn't. Then...

Novice owner, piebald dapple? double dapple?

Hi and welcome! Congratulations on your new pup! I bet your house has been turned upside down with a youngster in the house. I hope you post more pics of the pretty baby. She could be double dapple. Are all four paws white, and the end of the tail white? Piebalds have white there and if only...

New member and new to breed

Hi and welcome from Canada! Love that you posted photos!! Good job! How did you decide to get a doxie when you had 2 dogs already? Did you need a dog that would cuddle with you under a blanket when you watched tv? lol

    Nice to meet you!

Hi and welcome! I'm in Canada as well and love taking photos of my 3. It's a challenge often to have just the right lighting, the right expression, with no distractions in the background, isn't it? lol I love the blurred out backgrounds in your photos. Really allows the person to see your sweetie.

Would A Reputable Breeder Even Sell To Me?

If you do end up with a doxie with a smooth coat, be sure to have a lot of blankets for them to burrow under. There is no dog like a doxie that will cuddle and snuggle with you for your favorite tv show, under a blankie too please.

My New Puppy!! Help With Naming?

What a little cutie pie! She looks like she could get into a lot of mischief. Don't you just love having white nails? I think you'll figure out the right name when you have her a little longer. I sure hope you post more pics and tell us what she's been up to.

    Breeding F choc/cream dapple

I guess the chip on my shoulder is from puppies being born blind and deaf when it's totally avoidable and the breeders fault. That really irks me. So wound up over the issue. Yes. I agree with your assessment. The 'tad' of dapple had me spitting nails so I was trying to be direct with my...

    Breeding F choc/cream dapple

No, not even a TAD of dapple. Absolutely NO DAPPLE. OK, bad advice from her already. Do not breed for blue. Blue is a dilute color and dilutes have a problem with color dilution alopecia. From Wikipedia Colour Dilution Alopecia - WikiVet If you do not have a knowledgeable breeder...

    Breeding F choc/cream dapple

Be sure that the male is not a dapple. Dapple to dapple breeding results in double dapple puppies that can be blind, missing eyes or poorly developed eyes, and deaf. I think you should work with her breeder to pick the right stud for her, that works best for her conformation.

What a handsome boy! I am looking forward to a lot more photos plus hearing about the adventures you've shared. Looks like there are going to be lots of those. lol Since we have a very cold winter we play hide the ball indoors. We put the poopsies behind a door, put the ball somewhere in the...
