    Need advice with dachshund/puppies rescue.

I don't have any experience with this but I wanted to say Bless your heart for your kindness. I have no idea why a place called 'humane society' would put down a mother dog and babies. Does that make any sense? Not to me. Please keep us posted and know there are dachshund rescues that you can...

    Newly adopted

I have adopted adults and it takes time for them to get used to their surroundings and understand what is required of them. Be as patient as you can and have a yummy reward when she potties where you want her to. I hope you've got some pics of her to share with us.

how do i start a wiener race?

We grew a group by getting folks out for a wiener walk. Pick a park, day and time, where to meet, and let some vet clinics know. I contacted a few breeders to let the families with their puppies know. That's a good place to start. Even if no one shows up, you can still enjoy a nice day in the park.

    your best advice

Absolutely crate train her! If she feels safe and secure in her kennel, one day, if she gets a back injury and needs 8 weeks of crate rest, you'll be very happy you did. Congrats and I hope there's plenty of puppy photos coming!

    new here needing advice

I have adopted adults over the years and it's really worked well for us. I think the shedding depends on the dog. I have a red male and his coat is like velvet. Although he does shed (I can see it on the brush) I really don't see it anywhere in his blankets. I have 2 piebald girls and the one...

    Cushing's Disease

Hi there. I don't have any experience with Cushings but I wanted to say that I'm sorry that you are going through this. Your little fella is very fortunate to have such loving care givers. The only suggestion I can offer is a belly band. You can put a feminine pad inside and change it. I found...

    New member in the UK

Breeders that I know of typically use a kennel with an enclosed area that has papers and pee pads down. When a puppy goes home with their new family they are used to sleeping in a kennel (that's a very good thing) and peeing on papers and puppy pads. A side note, please keep her used to...

We have a 6 month old girl, our first puppy! The others who came to live with us were all adults. Have you taken him to puppy classes? When we take our puppy out we always have puppy kibble in our pocket to reward her if she's staying close to our side and not pulling forward. We ask strangers...

Hi and welcome! I'm in Canada and our winters are brutal. I have a plastic sheet down with newspaper on top and my 3 pee on that. During the summer they are happy to potty outdoors but those papers are a great back up. I've had dogs get diarrhea and run to the papers and saved me a very ugly...

    New Puppy/Color advice

Congrats on the new puppy! I think you have a shaded red there. Dachshunds also come in chocolate so you shouldn't call that color of puppy brown. Reds vary quite a bit in the doxie world. Didn't the breeder tell you the color of your puppy? We have a 5 month old and have been enjoying the...
