New dachshund owner looking for advice!

He wants to be with his pac. If you really want him to stay locked up during night its just puting up with it untill he gives up. I suggest just have a nice dogbed instead and let him sleep there next to your bed. They are often sad at first. You need to put up with that. Just ignore. Put a...

    Puppy while at work

found this, that maybe helps: Here’s a crate-free dog- or puppy-proofing checklist to help make sure your new best friend is safe and secure: Set boundaries. New dogs or puppies should probably spend the first few days or weeks in a restricted area when you aren’t there to supervise. This cuts...

    Agressive 4 month old Doxie

If a dog is "aggressive" then your first thought should be to go to the vet. A dog in pain can be aggressive. If he is understimulated he will have rough play, then you need to get him a "Job", something to do, that makes him important and let him have a task. Bloodtracking is exellent. Rally-O...

    Puppy while at work

Hello, Yes it is very harmful to crate a dog, any dog, but especially a puppy. Dogs are social beings and need family around them. A dog that is left alone for as longe as 5 hours a day may have other behavioural problems, not always acting out. Some get depressed and aphatic. In sweden it...

    The whiny wiener

First you need to let the dog have a task to do. Activate them mentaly before training any alone time. Then you make the dog feel safe where they are supposed to be alone. Put a t-shirt of yours in the dog bed. Something to make them feel safe. Then you leave the room for 4 sec. Then returns...

    Another potty question

In Sweden we dont use pads. we start taking our puppies outside from day one. I would take the dog outside and wait for it to do outside. Then praise, play and go inside.

    Confused.

Thank you! Your dog will thank you too! :) <3 I feel the same about crates. Animals are not ment to spend a life in cage. When we need to leave our dogs at home (yes we leave them too for max of 3 hours) I keep them in our bedroom where ther is nothing to chew on. I walk them and activate...
