How any Dachshunds have they (the authors) owned and how many have hurt their back in any way? What and how did they treat them? Thanks.

Ours came to us eating the same food, Royal Canin. We gradually switched her to Blue Buffalo but it gave her diarreha so then we went and gradually switched to Taste of the Wild. What ever you decide switch him off of it gradually.

Our last Dachshund Samantha had siezures and was on Phenobarbital most of her life, since 3 years old. It had no affect on her and she lived to be 17 years 3 weeks old. It is hard watching them go through a siezure. I miss her everyday.

Keep me posted on what you find out and I will do the same. Ours was the same thing, beautiful puppy and getting progressively worse. Very discouraged at this point.

Dachshunds should be taught crate training for many reasons. 1) to keep them out of trouble especially when they are puppies, 2) So when you take them in a car they are safe, 3)So if they ever hurt there back as many Dachsunds experience, they can easily be crated for 8 or more weeks to recover...

Brandy is spay. We are 3 hours from Ithica. We are looking at seeing a dog dermatologist now. We'll see how it goes..

Not that I know of. What is Alopecia X. I guess I can google it. :) Like I said he gave us a fish oil additive to give he once a day (1 pump it is in a pump bottle) and like I said it has made her coat nice and smooth but nothing as far as helping the hair loss.

Our baby is still a beautiful girl. These two pictures are current. Hopefully we can figure out what is going on soon. I don't want her losing anymore hair! HELP!!

Welcome to life with a Dachshund. :D Our last one, Samantha red female miniature, was attached to me. This one we have now, Brandy mahogany female standard, is attached to my wife. It is the way the breed is in my opinion.

We crate ours during the day and she is no problem. Ours is spoiled though she sleeps in bed with us. :D
