    Home cooking

If you are cooking the meat, make sure you feed supplements. Alot of the "stuff" dogs need are denatured by cooking

Confused on what Dallas is LOL

When I say gold, it's a light brown. You see it alot in livers

Confused on what Dallas is LOL

Yeah, those are definitely not blue eyes. Her eyes'll change anytime up until 4 months. My guess is she's an ee red (basically liver in most breeds. Livers have brown noses too. Chocolate labs are actually liver, as well. True Chocolate is a dilute liver colour), not chocolate. And most...

Confused on what Dallas is LOL

I'm mostly sure your dog will end up with gold eyes. Gold eyed dogs are born with green or turquoise eyes that change as they get older. I don't think they're blue.

    Clicker training pups?

I'm guessing you dont really understand it then. You don't use the clicker whereever you go, and you dont use it once a dog knows the behaviour. Thousands of Obedience and Rally-o people use clicker training, because it works best. Again, not that your way doesn't work, but if you truly try...

    Clicker training pups?

Look, I honestly felt that way too. I used a combo of praise and corrections when warrented... and I thought I was a great trainer, getting decent results fairly quickly... that changed the first time I tried clicker training with an open mind (I'd tried it before, but didn't give it my best...

    Clicker training pups?

Clickertraining is not crap. It is literally the fastest and easiest way to train any animal, and they LOVE it. I used to think that way, now I know different!

    Hi- New here

Your breeder told you they were dapples? I dont think either of them are. You have a red and a sable (I don't know if that's the right term in dachshunds but in every other breed it's called sable lol) piebald, by the looks of those pics. Not that it makes them any less cute! Lol they are...

    Clicker training pups?

First thing you need to do is go get the book "Reaching the Animal Mind" by Karen Pryor or find someone who understands it to teach you. To do it right takes some learning. Look up how to vids on youtube, specifically Kikopup. She is fantastic and has a vid on almost anything you might have...

    Hi- New here

Your babies are precious! But I dont think your little red has blue eyes. I think they'll be gold. Gold eyed dogs are born with almost turquoise eyes until they get a little older.

    Trying a new food...

I feed 30-40% protein (DMB) in kibble. I try to avoid feeding carbs as much as possible. Carb loaded food is just full of stuff dogs don't need. This is why I try to feed alot of canned First Mate. It is only 6.8% carbs, I feed a variety of brands and proteins to prevent sensitivities to...

    Trying a new food...

You want a fish based food, here's a much better product, grain free, made in Saskatchewan by a company who only makes pet food, and it's cheaper than the Holistic Select. http://www.horizonpetfood.com/pulsar

    Trying a new food...

And they use canola oil as a fat source and not an animal fat. Cheaply made food, is what it is.

    Trying a new food...

Three reasons I wont feed that food, 1- 58% carbohydrates, only 24% protein (dry matter basis) enough said 2- I try to avoid fish in my pet's food. Fish is so full of toxins, pregnant women aren't upposed to have it more than once a week... toxins build up so fast in little dogs 3-made by...

Happy Thanksgiving to all you Canadians!

Lol Nell! I wish! I didn't do traditional as there was only three of us. But I cooked a duck, which I have never even eaten, nevermind cooked, roasted rosemary root veggies (parsnips, carrots, yellow and purple potatoes, turnips, yams, beets and onions covered with olive oil, salt pepper...

Happy Thanksgiving to all you Canadians!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day filled with good friends, family and good food! I cooked today, and the dogs and cat got theirs as well, in the form of Merricks Thanksgiving Day Dinner, and scraps from the duck I cooked lol. We all have bellies now.
