Hello everyone,
I was pleased to find this community. We share our home with six rescue dachshunds, ranging in ages 4-11. We adopted our first one in 2008 in the Midwest; Since then, we've added several more. Three of our dachshunds are disabled to some degree. Buddy, our four-year-old double dapple, is mostly deaf and blind (about 70-80%). Sophia, our seven-year-old female is permanently paralyzed from IVDD, and Trudy, our 10-year-old female has a pacemaker. We didn't plan to have so many disabled dogs, life just happened. But through our experiences and commitment, we've learned a great deal about how to care for our pack. We firmly believe that proper nutrition plays an important role in overall health.
We are looking forward to connecting with other doxie lovers and learning through your experiences as well as sharing some of our own.
