Need help finding a new vet

I'm relocating to Daytona Beach, FL in a month at the worst possible time. My oldest doxie, Duncan, just started having seizures and is on his second day of phenylbarb which has to be monitored closely. I've had some very bad experiences finding a vet in south Florida that I trust and now have to leave him and go through the whole process again right when my poor guy needs a quality doc and continuity of care. Does anyone have any advice on how to find a good vet, what to look for, questions to ask, etc? I'm trying to narrow down a list to visit before I move but it's hard to do online. Or even better if anyone can recommend someone general practice, neurology, and/or ophthalmology (as I will need to find a specialist too) in that area.

Hi, tmbutter~

I'm a Floridian as well, having lived in Lauderdale by the Sea, Lauderhill, Coral Springs, Boynton Beach, Port St. Lucie and now Lady Lake in Central Florida. I would say your best bet is to ask your current vet for a referral (if you're happy with your current vet). That's worked well for us as we traveled up the state. I do have a friend in Daytona Beach. if you like, I can ask him if he knows a good vet in the area..
