Hey I'm bringing home a new puppy Monday! So excited. His mom
Is a dapple and his dad is a straight red or brown smooth hair. He's about 8 weeks old and he's about reddish in color with slightly lighter spots over him. That makes him a dapple right? What would he correctly be called? And would his colors become stronger or look less when he grows up. He's awesome either way just want to know. I'll try and post a pic

he is so cute i just wanna cuddle with him!! not sure about what you asked mine is brown with white spots very noticable lol

yes, he is a dapple, and a beautiful boy! if you do some research you'll likely read that on some reds, the dapple fades as they age, even to the point of not being able to tell they're dapple. Our girl's dapple started out with a perfect shape of a heart on his head, but as he grew it stretched out of shape somewhat.

congratulations!

Aww.. He's a cutie!! :)

Cute baby! Yes, he is called a red dapple. And like someone earlier posted, most red dapples will lose their dappling as they get older and just appear to be red. Looks like he may have some shading (black hairs) on his tail - does he have any on other parts of him?...if he does, he would be a called a shaded red dapple :)

Yup, beautiful red dapple! I have one and her coat looks like a solid red now! Only way you can tell is her blue eye
