Blood from tips of ears

Not sure if any of you have this problem, but the bottom of his ears are always looking dried out and always have scabs on them. He quite frequently shakes his head and his ears hit the ground and get cut up and start bleeding again, then shakes his head and gets drips of blood everywhere.
I asked the vet how to stop it but couldnt really give a clear answer.

Do any of you have tips to stop the bleeding and have the ears actually heal?

Thanks!

could be allergies

Try washing them with warm soapy water. Dry them well, and apply neosporin with triple antibiotic gel on them twice a day for a week and see how that works. Our doxi had scabs that would bleed on his chest, we tried this and it worked. Let me know the outcome if you choose to try this.

I had this problem a long time ago with our first doxie Basil. It seems that the head shaking gets the bleeding started again so it's very frustrating.
Do what Crystalclear says, and to keep the ears from flying around, take clean gauze and gently and loosely roll the ear up. Take a nylon stocking, cut at the ankle and toe, and slide over the head to hold the ears in place. They won't fly around and start bleeding again.
